Slow Cooker French Onion Soup Directions:
- Place the sliced onions, butter, sugar, and salt in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 7 hours, or until the onions are soft and browned.
- Add the beef broth, sherry, thyme sprigs, and pepper to taste. Cover and cook on high for another hour.
- To serve, place a slice of bread (or croutons) on the surface of the soup in each bowl. Add a slice of Gruyere cheese on top of the bread and serve.
