Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, salt, and cayenne pepper if using.
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until it's coated with the flour mixture.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, 1/2 cup of melted butter, and egg until combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix together using a spoon or rubber spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing it into an even layer.
Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the loaf is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
While the loaf is baking, mix together the 2 tablespoons of melted butter with 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder for the topping.
Once baked, remove the loaf from the oven and immediately brush the top with the garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle chopped parsley over the buttered top.
Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before moving it to a wire rack to cool slightly.
Slice and serve the loaf warm.
