Low Points Apple Dumplings Directions:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Cut each apple into 8 slices. Roll out the reduced-fat pie crusts and cut each crust into 6 equal pieces.
  • Wrap each apple slice in a piece of pie crust, making sure to seal the edges well. Place the wrapped apple slices in the prepared baking dish.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar substitute, water, light margarine, brown sugar substitute, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the margarine is melted and the sugar is dissolved.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Pour the hot mixture over the apple dumplings in the baking dish.
  • Bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and the apples are tender.
