Christmas Stuffing with Bacon Directions:
-
Preheat Oven:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a large baking dish and set aside.
-
Cook Bacon:
- In a large skillet, cook the turkey bacon over medium-high heat until cooked through but not fully crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon from the pan, drain on paper towels, and set aside. Keep the bacon grease in the skillet.
-
Sauté Vegetables:
- In the same skillet, melt the light margarine in the bacon grease over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and celery and sauté until they are softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
-
Combine Ingredients:
- Add the bacon pieces and poultry seasoning to the vegetables and stir to combine. Season with freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread cubes with the onion/bacon mixture and toss to coat. Add the beaten egg and mix until the mixture is uniform.
-
Bake:
- Pour the stuffing mixture into the prepared baking dish, smoothing out the top so it is even.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake until the stuffing is fully cooked, the bacon is crispy, and the top is golden brown, about 25-30 minutes.
-
Cool and Serve:
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes. Serve hot directly from the dish.
