Biscuit & Gravy Casserole Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Brown the turkey sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat until thoroughly cooked, crumbling it with your spatula. Scatter the sausage evenly in the baking dish.
- In the same skillet, keep about 2 tablespoons of sausage grease. Sprinkle the whole wheat flour over the grease and whisk to make a roux. Cook for about a minute.
- Gradually pour in the unsweetened almond milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and whisk until thickened.
- Season the gravy with black pepper and salt. Pour the gravy over the sausage in the baking dish.
- Separate the reduced-fat biscuit dough into individual biscuits, cut each into quarters, and scatter the biscuit pieces on top of the gravy.
- Bake for about 25 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown. If using cheese, sprinkle it over the top 5 minutes before the casserole is done.
- Let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
