Tunisian knitting, also known as Afghan knitting or Tunisian crochet, is a type of crochet that creates a dense, textured fabric that looks like knitting. Here's a step-by-step guide to get started:

Choose a Tunisian crochet hook. These hooks are longer than regular crochet hooks and have a stopper at the end to prevent stitches from falling off. You may also want to choose a hook that's slightly larger than what you would normally use for the type of yarn you're using, as Tunisian crochet tends to create a denser fabric.

Make a foundation chain. To start, make a chain of the desired length. This will be the foundation for your first row.

Work the forward pass. To begin the forward pass, insert your hook into the second chain from the hook and pull up a loop. Continue this process across the entire row until you have one loop on your hook for each chain stitch.

Work the return pass. To work the return pass, yarn over and pull through the first loop on your hook. Then, yarn over and pull through two loops at a time until you have one loop left on your hook.

Repeat the forward and return passes. Continue repeating steps 3 and 4 until your work reaches the desired length.

Bind off. To bind off, work a normal return pass, then insert your hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook. Continue this process across the entire row until you have one loop left on your hook. Cut your yarn, leaving a long tail, and pull it through the last loop on your hook to secure.

Weave in ends. Use a tapestry needle to weave in the ends of your yarn to the back of your work.

Tunisian crochet can create a variety of stitch patterns and textures, so once you're comfortable with the basics, you may want to experiment with different stitches and techniques to create your own unique designs.
