Crochet is a very nice model
Crocheting is a fun and relaxing craft that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. Here is a simple crochet pattern for a basic square that is perfect for beginners:
Materials needed:
Worsted weight yarn
Crochet hook size G/4.0mm
Instructions:
Make a slip knot and chain 4.
Join the chain into a ring by slip stitching into the first chain.
Chain 3 (this counts as your first double crochet stitch), then work 2 more double crochets into the center of the ring.
Chain 2, then work 3 more double crochets into the center of the ring.
Repeat step 4 (2 double crochets, chain 2, 3 double crochets) two more times, so that you have four clusters of stitches separated by chain-2 spaces.
Slip stitch into the top of the chain-3 stitch at the beginning of the round to join.
Chain 3 (this counts as your first double crochet stitch), then work 2 more double crochets into the chain-2 space of the previous round.
Chain 1, then work 3 more double crochets into the same chain-2 space.
Work 3 double crochets, chain 2, 3 double crochets into the next chain-2 space.
Repeat step 9 (3 double crochets, chain 2, 3 double crochets) into each of the remaining chain-2 spaces around.
Slip stitch into the top of the chain-3 stitch at the beginning of the round to join.
Repeat steps 7-11 until your square is the desired size.
Once you have completed your square, you can use it as a coaster, a dishcloth, or sew several squares together to make a larger project such as a blanket or scarf. Don't be afraid to experiment with different yarn colors and stitch patterns to make your project truly unique!
